A very interesting Tuesday Night Special at The Village Pub in Swedesboro, NJ recently caught my eye. Hop City‘s Barking Squirrel Lager for $3 a pint. It’s a fresh tasting Canadian red lager with the price being so right. The beer is excellent so I’d advise checking it out if you haven’t tried it yet. I’m glad this temptation brought me out on a cold, rainy night. It was well worth my trip.
The Pub is also now featuring Craft Beer Lines. This changes as new beers come in to the bar. I tried a Delirium Tremens from the line. The flavor was sweet and amazingly good. I’m planning on definitely drinking this one again.
The Pub has daily specials, happy hour prices, a good menu, friendly staff and an excellent atmosphere. I recommend stopping by if you have yet to do so. The crowd sometimes can get a tad rowdy late at night but seems somewhat harmless.

As spring has sprung a new baseball season is about to start for the Phillies on April 5. Craft beer fans should take note of an interesting special happening at the The Village Pub in Beckett, NJ. Phillies themed sandwiches all season long featuring The Utley Club, The Big Piece, The Cubano Contreras and Just what the ‘Doc’ ordered among others. Yes, interesting sandwiches plus a good craft beer bar. It is a must during the upcoming season. Nice tap and bottle selections are here and they have a good menu for other food as well. Twelve taps and many craft bottles.

For the home brewers among us. Check out this recipe from Keystone Homebrew Supply for what is known around these parts as Phillies Beer and Imperial Red Ale in non-baseball towns.

Spring training, college baseball and softball are already in full swing. Baseball and craft beer go together as well as baseball and um, major company beer. Opening Day is just around the corner. It’s better to have a beer game plan as the season starts. Hopefully this will help you get ready. Go Phils!
Update: In a recent post I mentioned stopping into Dublin Square in Sewell, NJ. They have changed the name of the bar and are now called Lazy Lanigans Publick House. They also have a new Facebook page. My sources tell me not much has changed except the name and colors the employees wear. They have gone from green to red. Phillies red no doubt.
